9,000 down and counting...

I have been without power since 1:30 in the morning. Can you tell me when power should be fully restored.

Thanks for the information that you are providing here. Is it possible to describe what area is being worked or a project time table when certain areas may come back on line?

Right now (7:50 p.m.) the best we can say is that repair work will continue throughout the night, and hopefully most of the work will be done before the end of the day tomorrow.

I wish we could give you a time, even a ballpark figure, but I honestly don't know.

As for the areas where work is being done, the best answer is "everywhere." The outages are everywhere. The systemwide map in our dispatch center looks like the face of a teenage with bad acne — little red dots everywhere, and every single dot represents one power outage.

One of our linemen who has been out in the field for the past 20 hours and has helped restore power to more than 12,000 members so far, he looked at the map and commented that it still looks the same. Even though we've wiped 12,000 "zits" off the board, there is still 5,000 waiting to be popped.

We have our crews spread out all over the service area from Addison to Bremen, Holly Pond and areas further to the east, Hanceville... like I said, everywhere.
